I have 18 students who come to my classroom eager to learn everyday.
Although I teach in a Magnet School many of the school supply funds have been cut out of the budget do to district and state budget cuts.
As a magnet school, we embrace our MicroSociety theme and pride ourselves in its integration of mathematics, writing, science and social studies into the curriculum, weaving it throughout our academic day. Our students are all employed in ventures that encourage them to be productive and responsible citizens within our learning community. At our school we provide students with a rigorous academic learning environment built upon high expectations and inquiry based learning within our meaningful standards based curriculum. The MicroSociety philosophy creates powerful incentives for all children to learn.
My Project
Everyday my students come to school eager to learn and discover new things. This year I have a group of students who I am unable to find enough books for them to read. Last week I was able to dig up six of the same chapter book so we began to read our first chapter book The Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark.
My students fell in love with the book instantly and do not want to put it down.
I even have caught a few reading it throughout the day when we are learning other things.
This project would secure a set of seven for the first six books and would continue to enrich children lives having books that peek their interest.
