Mrs. Lisa White from Blytheville AR is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need glue, paper, and poster boards to complete an art project for Semana Santa. The shredder and paper cutter would be used by students to create confetti.

I have a hundred and forty students daily. My classroom is bright and cheerful. I have student work displayed everywhere. My biggest challenge is in making Spanish come alive for them. By the end of the year they should understand basic Spanish and its culture. Creating projects help them understand.
My students come from a low socioecomonic community.
Many are from broken homes and/or living with grandparents or relatives. They are faced with many disadvantages in everyday life. For all the disadvantages they have, they are hard workers and strive for success. They are bright and talented, but with little resources. Our school has close to 900 students. My school administration is very supportive by putting the needs of the students first. They attempt to meet every need of our students in and out of the classroom.
My students need glue, paper, and poster boards to complete an art project for Semana Santa. The requested shredder and paper cutter would be used by students to create confetti. My students will create wonderful alfombras ( carpets ) that demonstrate their understanding of La Semana Santa. They will use the paper and paper shredder to make confetti, then use glue to attach the confetti to the poster boards. What they will learn as Spanish I students,is the way Hispanic people celebrate La Semana Santa (Holy Week). Their projects will display a knowledge of what they have learned about the culture, traditions and how alfombras are utilized in their festivities. They will gain a clear understanding of Hispanic culture and tradition and be able to compare and contrast it to their own culture and traditions.
These donations will allow my students to have a hands on learning experience.
It will bring another country's culture and traditions to life. Students learn and retain what they have learned by having a hands on experience. They will be able to take home their alfombras and share their knowledge with their families and thereby becoming the expert/teacher. This project will help my students to understand another race of people and lessen or change their perspectives regarding Hispanics.
