My students need arts and crafts materials such as buttons,, shapes, pom-poms and feathers to create collages and personal art work. Art is as important as words to express ourselves in our kindergarten classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Look what I did!" Nothing beats the excitement and confidence in a child's work. Art is a part of our daily class routine. But, my students' creativity are limited to the use of papers, pencils, crayons, markers and paint brushes. The artists in them deserve more freedom with their materials.
My students attend a public school in a high poverty community with low performing schools all around them.
Our school consists of preschoolers and kindergarteners. Due to budget cuts, we to have large class sizes and a lack of materials for arts and crafts. Therefore, my students creativity are being limited. My students have so much potentials, unfortunately, their opportunities to showcase their artistic side are limited due to the lack of resources in school and at home.
My students honestly love to color with markers due to their constant use of crayons on a daily basis. The are so appreciative of what they have. Therefore, they deserve to have more materials such buttons, feathers, cotton, fabric, and more for any project. Sadly, they simply have the very basic in their class. They try their very best with what they are given on a daily basis. I am so proud of them.
My Project
The possibilities are endless with arts and craft materials. These materials can be used in every single subject by my students. We will use them to create cards, mobiles, posters, and more during different holidays to celebrate different cultures and people. My students will definitely benefit from these material in mathematics for sorting, making patterns, counting, comparing sets, graphing, etc. In language arts, my students can create characters and settings to summarize a story. A collage can be created for social studies, science, physical education, and health.
Sometimes, it is just too difficult to make something out of nothing.
It is not fair to ask a five or six-year-old to do that. Please give something. Something is better than nothing when it comes to materials for kids.
