It baffles me to see a young student who doesn't know how to use a texture plate or how to trace a line! Help my students learn some new art processes by donating basic tools to our school.
My students come from a poor socioeconomic background.
They love coming to my class because they get to do things that they would never do at home. Our school is like an oasis in the middle of several rural counties in Georgia. Kids don't have much access to creative activities or interesting history outside of the school.
My Project
Drawing is one of the most important activities that students can do. Drawing not only provides the basis for other creative activities - like painting and sculpture - but it also provides a direct link with reading, writing and mathematics. The connection between drawing and geometric shapes and measurements simply can't be ignored. Drawing is the single most accessible form of art available. Help my students by providing pencils, paper, scissors, texture plates and a book about the history of paper so they can begin making the connections today!
According to the Americans for the Arts organization, young people who participate in the arts for at least three hours on three days each week through at least one full year are more likely to recognized for academic achievement.
So, please donate to my school so we can do what we can to improve to quality of the education of these rural Georgia kids. Thank you!
