My students are very eager to learn. They love non-fiction texts and learning about history. Some of their favorite books are the I Survived Books by Lauren Tarshis. The requested books will allow them to compare the differences between historical fiction and non-fiction materials about the same topic.
My students are unique because many of them do not get to travel outside of Georgetown.
I want to give them experiences through books and discussion in book clubs. It is important for them to get these discussion skills as it will help them in the future when they are looking for jobs.
My Project
It is so important for students to know what has gone on in history around our world. So many times, our students do not know huge historical events that have happened. These books will give my students a chance to read about these true events and talk with their book clubs about their effects on our world.
We will use these non-fiction texts with current historical fiction texts that we already have on the same topic.l Students will be in book clubs (smaller groups within the classroom) discussing the differences of the historical fiction and the non-fiction books.
We will discuss how these events have changed our world.
We will use the 12x12 organization items to keep each book club organized.
