My Students

The students at my school are diverse and energetic. They are eager to be a part of a rigorous academic environment. I teach a wide range of students from the Superintendent's program to SETTS classes.

Our curriculum is centered around six Big Ideas, that are thematic units.

We look at the importance of water throughout history, the impact of religion on society, the rise and fall of empires, revolutionary and civil rights movements, people hurting other people, and technology changing the world.

What Goes Up Must Come Down is a unit about the rise and fall of empires. The students would benefit from having highlighters to annotate their text.

My Project

They will use the highlighters to make connections between empires from the ancient and modern world. They will be required identify the importance of trade, conquest, and engineering to creating and maintaining an empire. One of the connections they will be looking for is to see how the attacks on 9/11 are connected to empires. they will also be required write an essay arguing if the United States empire is collapsing. Other aspects they will writing about are the importance of roads in Asia and Europe during the middle ages. They will also examine the importance of canals in Egypt and China
