This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Thanks to "Shark Week" children know more about sharks then ever before. I would like to take that knowledge wrangle it and turn it into a research paper.

My inclusion classroom in a high poverty school has a variety of learning styles and reading levels.

My students love to read stories that they can connect to. Sharks have become a huge topic on TV and of course some crazy out of this world movies. My students need to read more by using Sharks I hope to spark their interest.

My Project

Sharks have become a huge topic over the years through "Shark Week". My students have watched it, but haven't done anything with the information until now. Our textbook uses sharks as an introduction to nonfiction literature. It also includes a story by Peter Benchly the author of "Jaws". I will incorporate "Sharks" and "Great White Sharks" for small group instruction and resources.

This project will help the students take a topic of high interest and look at it from a text standpoint.

Since what they know comes mostly from viewing,this will be a great way to incorporate prior knowledge and create a written report.
