Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are part of a blended classroom where there is a mixture of diverse learners with a wide range of abilities and students who come from the neighborhood which is predominantly Mexican-American. We are building the understanding in students that all are welcome in our special needs inclusive classroom.
My classroom is a little lab to practice life skills, make mistakes and fall in love with learning.
My goal is for my students to understand that learning happens in the world around them, and the best way to teach that is to bring the world to the classroom.
My Project
All buildings have different functions, at school we learn, in the grocery store we shop for food. What do people do in their homes? We are requesting a dollhouse for students to use to learn the function of the house and the different rooms in each house.
We will let children explore each room of the dollhouse, targeting different vocabulary in each room, and the different uses of each room.
We will also use this dollhouse to reinvigorate the blocks area in our classroom and to hopefully have children build their own multi-tiered homes or buildings.
Thank you for taking the time to consider donating to our classroom!
