My students need the Qball throwable wireless microphone along with a wireless presentation set in order to hear not only me but their classmates better when we are discussing science and history lessons.
I teach three 90 minute classes of science and social studies everyday to 75 fifth graders. We are constantly reading aloud and discussing different views of history and science theories. My biggest challenge is getting everyone to participate in the classroom discussions and getting everyone in the room to hear them.
At this level, student are excited about learning our history
and scientific methods to expand their knowledge. Many of the students get discouraged by having to repeat things that they said because they do not speak loud enough. It is frustrating as a teacher to see their inquisitive minds lose interest in a project because not everyone heard them the first time.
My Project
I like using the latest technology in my classroom. The students love it when they can get out of their seats and move in the classroom to work on social studies and science projects. With the Qball, the students can use it when they are giving their science reports, or even just answering questions. I will use the wireless presentation set when I move around the classroom. I like using a variety of differentiated instructional methods to help my students understand the lessons. With a microphone, either the Qball or the wireless presentation set, everyone will be able to hear what is being said, even the softest spoken student.
By getting the Qball and the new wireless microphone system, my students will always be able to hear one another, my lessons and instructions.
When our school started, my students were so excited, because they knew I used a wireless microphone. However, within the first week of school, my wireless microphone jack was broken by being passed around from one student to the next. My students will love having a new wireless microphone that is just for them and that they can toss around to each other. I like it because my students will be more self reliant and not have to depend on someone else to repeat the instructions to them, or bother another student asking what someone else has said.
