I am fortunate to facilitate learning opportunities for some incredible elementary gifted learners in Georgia. I am inspired every day by their creativity, problem solving capacity and genuine concern for their world.

The learning that takes place in my classroom cannot be contained to only a few learners. Whether we are sending our teddy bear on the Presidential campaign trail, studying about sea mammals from inside an inflatable life sized whale, or unearthing a time capsule that was left for us by a class thirty years ago, my students ignite a passion for learning that spreads throughout the entire school population.

I typically photograph our class learning activities and student projects and communicate with parents and students by way of pictorial email and the class website. Students will often ask me to photograph a construction or particular solution to a problem and email it to his or her mom at work. I am currently using a camera that was donated by a family when they upgraded to a newer model but it has issues regarding light so the photos have to be edited before posting. While I am able to accomplish this marginally, the students have more difficulty operating this camera and I believe that a new camera would facilitate children being able to photograph and post pictures to our classroom website.

A new camera will make it easier for students to use the camera as well as the teacher because they won't need to edit them before using. In today's economy, you cannot expect greater dividends than when you invest in gifted children. Thank you for considering this need for my classroom.
