Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my computer lab, students are building higher level thinking skills when they have a chance to create, design, navigate, and collaborate with the use of technology. I teach digital literacy in an urban Kindergarten through 5th grade school.

Our school is located in an area of high poverty.

We receive Title I funding, and my students receive free breakfast and lunch to ensure that they have a meal to eat. For many of my students, school is the only place where they have hands-on experience with technology.

My Project

I would like to support the classrooms in my building by providing AC powered speakers for their interactive whiteboards. The boards in the classrooms work very well, but the speakers do not project enough sound for students to hear their learning videos. Some boards even have a design flaw with the speakers built behind the board!

I would hate for our students to miss out on engaging with interactive lessons on the boards because of a lack of sound.

An AC power base for the speakers is important as student computers in our building have limited USB ports.
