Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school every day ready to learn, despite what is going on in their homes. Due to the fact that most of the students live in a single parent home or they are being raised by other family members, they are not afforded opportunities to get out of the neighborhood.
Our school is 99% on free or reduced-price lunch, and a lot of students receive weekend food supplements.
We are in an area that students are highly mobile so they do not live stable environments. We strive every day to provide stability and to make the students feel safe and comfortable while at school.
My Project
Reading Comprehension Games Library will be used to increase my students reading comprehension. There is a lot of focus in today's curriculum that focuses on reading the words, but less on truly understanding what you are reading.
My students will be engaged in a meaningful learning experience, that will impact their comprehension, vocabulary, and overall reading ability.
My students come to school with a very limited vocabulary and basically no comprehension skills. The Reading Comprehension Games Library will help students comprehension grow in a fun and interactive way.
I will use the resources to not only build reading comprehension but to build a sense of classroom community and help students interact with their peers.
