It was very disappointing when the SLPS bond proposal failed this past November, and our dream of having 1-to-1 technology was crushed. However, just last week (Friday, Jan 31st) I learned how teachers and students can use just 1 iPad together to enhance the educational experience in my classroom.
Students in Spring Lake are eager learners who come from families with high expectations.
Technology is nothing new to our students, but finding ways to use it to make learning fun and exciting sometimes is. Our school district hopes to make 1-to-1 technology a reality someday, but in the meantime I hope to bring the future to my students now.
My Project
My students need 1 class iPad and a protective cover so we can learn to use Apps like Ustream, Story Book Maker, Skype, and EduCreation. One way I envision using our class iPad is by creating live video streams using the app Ustream. Using this app, viewers anywhere in the world can watch classroom presentations like skits, debates, or historical reenactments. Using interactive whiteboards like Doceri will allow me to present lessons on the projection screen while freely moving about the classroom.
This project will improve the educational experience of my students.
It will allow me to bring resources into the classroom that are missing due to a current lack of technological capabilities. My students will be able to make connections between school and the real world in a way that excites them to continue learning.
