This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher in a low-income school district. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
I teach emotional support, and my students will truly benefit from different resources and materials in the classroom.
My students want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
My students need things to motivate them. They receive Bucks for being on task, in area, using appropriate language, good interactions, and following directions. The students earn bucks every period for showing they can demonstrate these behaviors. The class loves to spend their bucks on Wednesday’s and Friday’s (if they make their day) for various snacks, books, and toys.
Shopping in the "store" motivates them to earn their points because many of the items are things that they would otherwise not be able to buy.
The cute pencils, fidgets, and snacks will make a difference in our students' learning by motivating them to stay positive. They get to earn special items that their parents may not be able to purchase for them. Students come to the store with their bucks in hand and ready to tell me how much they have and what they did to earn them. This is good way to reward positive behavior and increase a positive growth mindset.
