Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are adjusting to distance learning as best as they can. All families are in very different situations. After contacting all families, we have come to an understanding that they do whatever they can with whatever is available. I love seeing my students during our virtual lessons, but there's always a few missing due to the current situation. Many have had trouble getting internet signal and have had to miss lessons, activities, or work online.
My Project
Distance learning has taught us so many lessons and has challenged us all. I would like my students to have art supplies like watercolors, color pencils, and notebooks to continue using their creativity at home.
I am hoping art will provide my students an outlet to express and communicate their feelings.
Art lessons with my students have been limited because they do not have the materials necessary. If students have these materials at home, I will be able to do guided art lessons with them during our live sessions. We'll get to experiment with different media, even do 3D models with the clay. They can design a roller coaster park with just the construction paper!
I would like students to use the comic book pads along with the art materials to create fun adventures and to practice their writing skills. These materials will bring joy and will encourage students to use their imaginations. Hopefully they can share their creations during our virtual meetings.
