Help me give my students costumes and props for our upcoming modern rendition of "Waiting for Godot"; For this rendition, we need some clothes that everyday people wear, like jeans and canvas sneakers.
Our kiddos are from Brooklyn, NY! We are a diverse, public, Title I high school, meaning that a large portion of our students are form low-income households. This also means that, unfortunately, most of our students are unable to fund their own resources.
Our wish is that our students' circumstances will not be the determining factor for their participation and involvement in the programs that they love.
Our students are passionate and funny individuals, who are on the path to discovering who they are and who they want to be.
My Project
This year for our fall production, our school, High School of Telecommunications Arts and Technology, will be producing a tragicomedy called Waiting for Godot. Our students are extremely passionate about our theater program here at Telecom and work extremely hard to put on a good show for everyone. Our lovely, diverse cast consists of five wonderful actresses who will be playing five depressing, yet hilarious characters who wait fruitlessly on someone named Godot. This tragicomedy displays themes of time, existence, and death. Our students will be working on this play for a few months and we hope they look good on stage! We aim to have Waiting For Godot set in modern times with hoodies, jeans, beanies, the lot! Our actresses will be wearing identical costumes to represent what this play says the one thing we all have in common is: death! And that we’re all waiting for it! These costumes will help make us make a statement with this play, and we will be most grateful to have your support!
