My Project

We are so excited about the possibility of bringing Whalesbots into our 1st grade classroom because it’s a fresh and original way to make STEM learning come alive for our youngest learners. These fun, easy-to-use robots give our students a chance to actively explore important skills like coding, problem-solving, and critical thinking—all while connecting what they learn in math, science, and reading to real-world experiences.

Whalesbots provide an exciting, playful, and powerful way to bring STEM concepts alive for our 1st grade students, helping them grow as thinkers, creators, and collaborators.

This project is very hands-on and relies heavily on student action. Instead of just listening or watching, our kids will be moving, experimenting, and creating as they program their Whalesbots. Whether they’re counting steps in math, traveling through a life cycle in science, or retelling stories in ELA, they’re engaged in meaningful learning that sparks curiosity and joy.

One of the best parts of this idea is the opportunity for cross-grade partnerships. Our 1st graders will work alongside older students who will serve as mentors and coding buddies, helping guide them through challenges. At the same time, our class will buddy up with a younger grade, giving our students the chance to step into leadership roles and share their new skills. These connections build confidence, community, and a love for learning across the whole school.

Through hands-on activities, stories, and conversations, our students will begin to imagine themselves as future scientists, engineers, and creators. This early exposure plants the seeds of possibility and helps them see that they belong in the world of STEM.

This is exactly the kind of learning experience our kids need to build a strong foundation for success and confidence in school and beyond.
