This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from a Title 1 school and are talented and enthusiastic. Our school system's budget has become more limited recently. These cuts could affect my wonderful students' ability to have access to resources they deserve. They deserve every advantage they can get and they have shown over and over again that their development flourishes through the arts. My students are hard-working and compassionate and enjoy sharing their musical performances with others. They especially enjoy learning about other school topics through the arts.

My Project

The Boomwhackers will allow my younger students and my students who have challenges with fine motor skills to perform music on instruments. Sometimes some of my students have difficulty playing music on the recorder or a violin, but they are able to grasp and play larger materials better. Boomwhackers are easy to manipulate and can be distributed across the classroom for small group and whole class activities.

The donations for this project will improve my classroom by engaging every student in kinesthetic learning because I will be able to provide the appropriate physical tools that my students need to demonstrate their music reading and performance skills.
