Help me give my students the opportunity to learn and perform music in a new way! We need pitched plastic tubes called Boomwhackers to learn how to play individually and as an ensemble.
Our school has amazing musicians! My students come from varied socioeconomic backgrounds and have a variety of emotional and behavioral needs. My classes work together to make sure each student feels included, loved and ready to achieve. I work hard to engage all kinds of learners through hands-on and authentic musical experiences. When our school merged with another, I lost my full-size classroom, but that hasn’t stopped us from filling our small space with beautiful sounds. Our classroom is small, but our heart for music is so big!
My Project
My students will use Boomwhackers to take their performance and compositions skills to a new level. Boomwhackers are an easy and fun way to learn how music is performed. The student can strike the Boomwhacker on anything to make a pitched sound. We can play lots of different songs from easy to more intricate!
Not only are we working to learn to read music, we are also learning how to perform something as a team.
We build upon team music making in 4th Grade when students may select a band instrument.
My students can also use the Boowhackers to compose their own music. Even my youngest students can join the fun since the tubes are color coded! Boomwhackers are a great resource to have in my music classroom!
