At our Title I school, my students and I are faced with many challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the budget challenges we face, I am motivated to provide my students with an inspirational and exciting learning environment. Many of my students receive free or reduced price lunch and other services to help meet their basic needs. Despite their hardships, they are eager to learn, and I strive to help them feel safe and cared for at school. They are at the age where they are curious and love to be hands-on and active in their education.
My students are challenged academically on a daily basis and encouraged to use their critical-thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
"Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela
My students come into class everyday ready to learn. They look for their two sharpened pencils each to get them through the day. My students write all day by taking notes, analyzing their text, and working out their math problems. They need a reliable pencil and the chance to keep them sharp. The commercial grade pencil sharpener will hold up longer and be able to service the two classrooms that I work with each day. Every student deserves a pencil to complete their work. This project can help my students not only have the tools they need at school, however be able to have one to go home with to complete homework.
