My students need percussion musical instruments to develop hand eye coordination and allow them to be active participants in our daily circle time activities.
We may march to the beat of a different drummer at times, but we love to march and drum. We love tambourines, rhythm sticks, and shakers too.
I teach a preschool class of fourteen that consists of children with disabilities as well as typically developing peers.
I have students with autism, physical disabilities, and a variety of other developmental delays. My typically-developing peers provide modeling of essential skills such as language and socialization.
The musical instruments I am requesting will liven up our daily circle. My students can become active participants during songs and motor movement activities. My class already loves to sing, but the instruments will enhance our favorite time of the day even more.
The instruments will also help some of my physically challenged students develop better eye hand coordination and increase their bi-lateral hands skills.
Funding this project will provide fourteen wonderful, happy, and energetic children the chance to learn through music.
I can't wait to see their faces when they see the new instruments! We will be one rocking, yet probably a little offbeat band. For this teacher though, it will be music to my ears!
