My Students

The art/music program serves every student in grades K-5! All 500 of our students are extremely talented and creative artists and musicians who are in need of some fun instruments to play. We have learned all of the music theory; now it's time to apply it!

I teach in a school where many students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch; currently, about 75% of our students receive this service.

My students also come from a variety of places around the world. We have a total of 26 countries represented in the school, and that number is growing!

My Project

My students work extremely hard every day in music. We cover the following skills: note recognition, pitch, rhythm, dynamics, basic music theory, body posture, and musical genres/instrument families. They are also assessed on music performance, whether that be through singing or instruments.

My students need fun and innovative instruments to apply their musical knowledge to!

Boomwhackers primarily use colors to help teach note recognition, which makes them easy for ALL students to use, regardless of prior experience with instruments. These instruments will open up a whole world for my little musicians where they can show creativity and develop self-confidence in their skills!
