Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so excited to be spending my first year teaching in the OKCPS school district. I spent much of last year substituting on the South Side of OKC and got to know the children. Now that I have my own classroom, I want to give my students the best school experience possible.
My students are bright shining stars who are eager to learn and grow at school.
They are amazing and deserve only the very best from their learning experience.
My Project
We have many school-wide assemblies at our elementary school. These assemblies focus on everything from reading challenges and fundraising to encouraging our kids to do well during stressful testing.
Assemblies encourage inclusivity, which is really crucial to many students who unfortunately don't feel included anywhere else in their lives.
A mascot costume will help inspire school spirit for years to come and ensure that our kids know that we, as teachers, care about their school experience.
As an OKCPS school, we don't always have the funding to provide our awesome kids with everything they deserve. A new mascot costume would pump up our assemblies. My vision is that when students see their mascot, they get excited about their school and whatever academic activity we are promoting.
