The Norris School District is FULL of wonderful students who truly love to learn. The children are so eager to absorb every bit of music that they possibly can. Each 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade student attends music class for 30 minutes per week. In these 30 minutes, the children play, sing, and experience the joy of learning.
For many, music is the highlight of their week.
The children enter music class dancing, singing, and ready to learn. Each student is greeted and with a high-five, hug or hello as they enter the music class. Working at this district with these students is truly a treat.
My Project
The students of our district are so eager to learn. Each week, students in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade joyfully enter the music room to participate in songs, dances, games, and quizzes as they expand their knowledge of music literacy. We've spent the first half of the year learning how to recognize, write, and read all sorts of rhythms as well as many pitches. As their knowledge of rhythms and pitches expand, students will begin to put their skills to practice on various pitched and non-pitched instruments. I'd love to place some fun, cultural instruments in their hands and watch the magic take place.
I can't wait to see the joy in their eyes as they practice their growing skills in music literacy!
