This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are shining examples of the good that our lower socioeconomic communities can produce. They don't have much, but they give their best in school! They love to laugh and dance and just have a great time with their friends. They have hardworking parents that sacrifice for their well-being with extra jobs and lots of hard, honest work that often takes away from their time with their kids.
My school is located right in the middle of this community, so we are 100% free lunch and about half African American and half Latino.
My Project
They will get hands-on practice of the standard that I teach daily with their peers and have a blast while learning more! There are also materials that are great visuals for small group work. They will (hopefully) be able to connect what they have been taught with the games and ace every test!
They can use the different geometrical shapes to decipher between different attributes and use number lines to solve addition and subtraction problems.
They have to draw them on their own and visuals will help. This is an important skill needed in their development that helps them think and pull out needed info to respond on a grade level test and eventually the EOGs!
