My students are special because they come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of the students in my district are migrant students, come from low-income families, or they are English language learners. In fact, many of my students fall into several of those categories. However, these students have worked hard to overcome the many struggles that life has thrown at them, and they are determined to be successful in life. From the gym to the classroom, these students strive to be the best that they can be.
My students inspire me and encourage me to give my best effort each and every day.
They love to create and explore through hands-on activities, and I would love to provide them with the tools they need to grow.
My Project
As the middle school LMS, I want to create a fun, inviting, and safe place for students to learn and explore. As a librarian, my job is to instill a love of reading and learning in my students. Therefore, it is important for me to provide students with opportunities to learn in a variety of ways. My goal is to provide students with a mobile STEAM cart which will allow them to create more meaningful projects.
By adding a STEAM center to the library, I will be providing students with a space to create, collaborate, and grow as learners.
Students and teachers will be able to use the requested materials to enhance the curriculum through projects which consider and reflect upon real-world problems.
The STEAM center in the middle school library will allow students to further develop critical thinking skills and will teach students how to collaborate with their peers on a different level. By providing students with access to these materials, we can enhance student learning on many different levels.
