Our students are from a suburban neighborhood in Arizona. They come from a variety of backgrounds and neighborhoods. Our students love to do engaging projects.
Low school funding in Arizona doesn't allow for many "extras".
Our PTA works so hard to raise money for our school, but can't possibly make up for the lack of state funding. I want my students to have an inviting classroom that makes learning fun! This is their last year in elementary school and we want to make it a memorable year.
We are planning a hands-on day of history on Westward Expansion for our 5th grade students. It will create lasting memories!
With the new state Social Studies standards, we are creating a new Westward Expansion event for our 5th graders.
We have always hosted a Colonial Day, but that event is moving to our 4th grade. We want to create a day filled with hands-on experiential learning - everything from learning about the transcontinental railroad to cooking in the 1800s. We will create 14 stations that the kids will rotate through during the day. These books will help teach our students about this time period before our Pioneer Day!
