This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The WHS girls basketball team consists of 12 teenage girls competing at the varsity and junior varsity level in Kentucky. The student athletes on this team include a variety of ages, backgrounds, and playing experience.
Though we are all very different from each other, we have come together for one purpose: basketball.
Each player on this team has committed to getting better at the sport (some, never having played before) and to grow as a cohesive team. The effort, focus, and attitude of these ladies is impressive.
My Project
The resources picked for this project are standard basketball practice materials. Many of my student athletes have never played basketball before, so they may not have some of these items. Having appropriate shorts and socks are important, as well as reversible jerseys that will allow us to scrimmage during practice sessions.
Western girls basketball is set to continue to grow from last year's season - we are on the rise.
This practice equipment will allow us to train at a high intensity and improve our basketball skills. These skills will translate into game performance.
We are looking forward to a fun, competitive season!
