This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are energetic, eager to learn 4th and 5th grade math students. I love their tenacity and willingness to learn and try new things. My students come from low income homes and do not have access to technology. However, they are eager to work with technology and learn the many facets that are available. I'm excited for all of the new avenues that are available as our school is becoming a STEM school with a concentration on Aerospace Engineering.
My Project
These materials will help foster a better understanding of math. It will allow students to take a greater ownership of the classroom and their education. Each student will be able to feel that the classroom gives them a choice, a voice, and a sense of belonging. The materials will help to provide differentiated instruction which will help the classroom be more equitable for all students. A strong math foundation at this age is critical. It is my hope that my students will gain the knowledge they need to be successful but to also gain a want/drive to be lifelong learners.
In my cart the are two math bundles, one for 4th and one for 5th grade.
These bundles contain manipulatives to be used in the learning process.
Floor and ball seats for flexible seating- gives the students the opportunity to choose their seating. Ball seat inflator- to keep bells inflated.
Write and wipe pockets- allows thinking to happen. Non-permanent mistakes can be made. Two sets of connect and store bins- one for 4th grade and one for 5th grade, used for organization of materials.
Math practice journal is a resource for daily practice math station.
