Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Reading is fundamental. I want to make FUNdamental.
My students are 7th graders.
They're in a transition period - they're not the baby 6th graders anymore, but they're not top of the heap yet. This is a huge year of change for them and it's all happening in their heads. They'll need all the help they can get to stay focused and learning throughout the year.
My Project
My students will be using these resources to become better readers. It's so important to be able to look past words on a page and really understand the implications behind the text. Just because someone wrote it, doesn't mean it's true. I want my students to be able to understand the world around them and contribute to it, as well.
It doesn't seem like much, but the highlighters, sticky notes, and folders are things that my students won't have to worry about looking for, losing, or paying for on the way to becoming better readers.
