I am excited to be teaching fourth grade math this year! I am a teacher in an inclusion classroom. My students rotate classes throughout the day. I teach a homeroom and math three times per day. My students have a range of ability levels and skill levels. The greatest areas of need this year are providing students will flexible grouping during differentiated instruction time.
As a teacher, I must ensure my students have access to alternative materials beyond the standard classroom tools.
By using technology, students will be more likely to engage and become excited about math and various other educational programs.
My Project
By using technology, students will be more likely to engage and become excited about math and various other educational programs. Some of the programs that would be utilized on the tablets include district programs for daily math and reading, research for various projects in fourth grade, and to boost student motivation.
Additionally, some of the programs we use on a daily basis to boost student achievement include Achieve 3000, a nonfiction reading program that is tailored to each student's Lexile level.
Prodigy Math is a fictional video game model used to practice grade level math skills and differentiate skills based on individual student learning targets. These students utilize these programs daily to review current lessons being taught, as well as to revisit older skills or spiral review.
Currently, we have two Apple iPads and one desktop computer we are using within a rotation. However, with up to 28 students in one class this becomes a challenge to give all students log in time on technology during small group rotations. My hope is that about one third of my class can have access to tablets and headphones when they are needed during small group rotations.
