Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As an honors teacher in an urban school district, we are blessed to have an evergrowing technology department. I, too, am a student, studying for a Master's Degree. It was through my own studies that I became acquainted with Rocketbook.
My students, all academically responsible and incredibly driven, would benefit from having Rocketbooks as my goal is to have them build a dynamic and cohesive bank of notes that will serve as a foundation for their entire high school career.
Allowing the students the methods to take, organize, catagorize and stockpile notes ina way that they can call upon them for use later would be instumental to helping them become better students with capabilities for AP classes while they build skills needed for college readiness.
My Project
I have been teaching 9th grade Honors students in a large, urban district for 2 years. Most of them are from good families who work hard to give them the best. These families are supportive and as I sit in Parent/Teacher Conferences, it is apparent that they want to see this generation become the first generation of their family to not only graduate high school but go on to higher education. For most of them this will only be a reality with some help!
My Rocketbook Project, along with the district's one to one laptop initiative next year, will allow these honors students the capabilities to use technology in such a way that they are constantly adding to an online, self created and self monitored database.
As I help build a foundation in my honors classes, I try to have students set attainable goals. Part of this is to further their college readiness skills with organization and study aids that will help them in all of their subjects as well as my english class. Please consider helping them as they start their journey towards higher educationa and meaningful careers. Someday I hope it is them that give back but today I ask, respectfully, that you give them this incredible tool.
