My students love to be music making rock stars.
They currently attend a Title I public school. They are living in high poverty, and for many, music is the thing that they find success in. We incorporate popular music into the classroom as well as modern band instruments, such as guitars, keyboards, and drums. With your help, we can acquire the tools necessary to prepare them to be life-long music makers!
My Project
Our school’s music program strives to create “life-long music makers.” Our current focus is on a Modern Band curriculum. Our Modern Band program provides students with the opportunity to perform for the school (students and parents) and within the local community. Reaching out to others gives our students the chance to be heard and appreciated.

Music transforms lives. For many of the students, music is their connection to something positive and gives them something to find joy in. I have seen amazing differences in the students who participate in the Modern Band groups. They beam with confidence and have progressed in becoming music makers who plan to continue music throughout their school years.
