My Students

My students attend a rural 3A school. It's the only school located in our county. As a matter of fact, our county only has two stop lights. Many of my students have few experiences outside of our quaint area.

Because of limited exposure, they crave knowledge.

They truly want to know more about the world and see things they've never seen. They want to become productive, strong, and outstanding adults. It's my job to love them and to help them grow into who they know they can be.

My Project

Being from a rural area with little industry, many of our students struggle financially. Even though headphones were a part of our school supply list, some families could not afford to make the purchase.

With struggling readers, my students enjoy listening to text as they read.

They listen to novels, short stories, cold reads, articles, and educational videos. This aids in word pronunciation, understanding context, and also increases time spent reading. They are also exposed to world wide experiences within the classroom. All of this works together to create a better and stronger reader. Reading is no longer seen as a burden but something that all students with varying abilities can enjoy.
