My students need materials NOT found on a computer! This collection of literature and hands-on activities for Ancient Egypt will be shared for years among my four other 6th-grade colleagues who will be teaching about Egypt.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What an incredible gift and challenge it is to accept a new position this year from struggling, to accelerated and gifted readers! My students this year are bright, energetic, and passionate about learning; they have indeed reignited a fire within me as well. They are keeping me on my toes, and my goal is to help facilitate their learning and not to hold them back.
Two-thirds of my class are 2nd language learners and/or from low socioeconomic households who continue to qualify as exceptional!
They are diverse, and come from parents of teachers, parents who labor intensely in the famous Napa Valley vineyards, and sadly, one family who is homeless. 10 and 11-year-olds are a challenge, but they are mine and WONDERFUL!
My Project
This is my 21st year teaching; however, my first year teaching core language arts and social studies for sixth grade in the middle school. I LOVE IT! I am so excited to teach a unit on Ancient Egypt.
The materials you are helping to provide will help me show these pre-teens that our world is full of wonderful ways to learn, that are NOT ON A COMPUTER!
It’s all about balance, I’m trying to teach them. Textbooks, digital information, AND hands-on activities combined with great literature are ways to be a well-rounded learner.
With your help, I can provide opportunities for my students to immerse themselves in Ancient Egypt from fiction literature to hieroglyph stencils and lesson plans for experiments, projects, puzzles, and hands-on activities in addition to their textbooks and digital educational resources.
