My students need to be global learners and we need books including "Taiwan in Pictures", and "American Born Chinese" as well as music to learn about Taiwan.

My Students

Diversity is a necessity and my students want to learn more about it!

My students are Third graders in a rural, low-income public school.

These students come from a variety of backgrounds and they realize that they are each different. This year, I have students from Canada, China, and different states within the US. We are not only a school of diversity, but a class of diversity.

My Project

This year, our whole school is going global to learn about diversity and my students are "going" to Taiwan. These books will open the minds of my students by showing them, through pictures and words, what life is like in Taiwan. The music will allow them to hear how the sounds of Taiwan are like and different from ours. With these resources we will be able to learn how Taiwan is and isn't like us.

Many of my students will never have the opportunity to leave our small rural community, but with these resources they will be able to experience through pictures, words, and sound what life in Taiwan might be like.
