As a teacher in an amazing school, where the atmosphere is conducive for student learning and creates opportunities to build positive student-teacher relationships, I look for innovative ideas that will help create a growth mindset and build inquiry skills. Working with children that display learning disabilities, the need for continuous growth as an educator is always prevalent.
Despite their academic challenges, the willingness to grow and learn outweighs any deficits they seem to possess as learners.
They are creative, outgoing, and enthusiastic about learning. The students enjoy reading and participating in student-led activities. They enjoy moving, brain breaks, and using manipulatives for hands-on experiences. They enjoy working in an inclusive setting where they can build relationships with regular ed peers, and not feel inadequate. I have set an atmosphere of positive thinking within my classroom, and each student has learned to believe in themselves with determination and perseverance.
I am truly proud to teach an amazing group of students and look forward to providing one of the best school years for my students.
I seek for my students to be trailblazers for their generation and create innovative ideas that will lead to world-class success.
Both the language and fractions sets will be used to help students continue to enhance the reading, language arts, and math skills they have been able to build this school year. With an amazing breakthrough of skills mastered this year, we are looking for games and activities that will enhance skills learned and increase the students as readers and math students.
Confidence is just a snippet of what the students have been able to build this year.
With the materials in this project, they will be able to master the challenging skills Georgia Milestones will bring their way. The students are excited, I am excited, and we are looking forward to reaching levels that exceed our goals.
Just some background information: The students using the materials being requested are students who felt as if they were defeated back in August. They were afraid to approach reading, use larger vocabulary, and intimidated by other students who they considered "smarter." After intense intervention, these students have met and superseded their math and reading goals. For example, one student moved from a 660 Lexile Level to a 1030 Lexile Level in 2 months. This is what it is all about. Another student moved from below reading to a 720 Lexile Level. The students have conquered their fears and understand that we cannot stop here. It's time to continue the race and cross the finish line.
