Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our classroom is made up of students who all have wonderful characteristics! Each child is unique, has their own story, and contributes to our classroom culture. My students have done an amazing job of loving one another regardless of their differences!

My Project

These materials were specifically chosen to provide students with rich stories about people from various backgrounds. The books chosen will introduce my students to different characters and cultures that may not necessarily be their own. I would like for each story to expose different backgrounds to my students, with hopes they may find connections between themselves and the characters, regardless of their differences. While some of these stories are of people who may not look or act like them, there are quite a few that do. Although my student will be exposed to characters from different cultures, I also included plenty of books that represent some of the faces in our classroom.
