My students need 32 headphones with microphones so they can listen to text at their individual reading level, and record their voices with clarity for technology based projects.
John Dewey said, "If we teach today the way we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." This could not be more true in today's society. Integration of technology into the classroom is essential to prepare students for the future.
My students are very eager learners.
They are enthusiastic about learning everything they possibly can. They come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, some even speaking multiple languages. This diversity brings such strength to our classroom.
In my classroom there is a wide range of academic abilities and needs. There are the students who are below grade level in certain areas and need practice and support in learning the fundamentals. On the other end of the spectrum, there are those who are above grade level and need to be challenged beyond their comfort zone. Regardless of academic need or ability, all students in my classroom have individual interests and learning styles that need to be engaged.
Our class definitely knows what it takes to be a team. The students are very caring and helpful toward each other. They are determined to succeed individually and as a unit. Their respectful and fun personalities make this classroom a wonderful environment!
My Project
Our 5th grade class was lucky enough to receive a class set of iPads this year. You can only imagine how engaged my students are when they have the opportunity to use them! We've already participated in QR code scavenger hunts to find out about the U.S. and collaborated on character studies using "Todaysmeet." During these activities every single student was participating and having fun learning.
IPads not only provide opportunities to use whole class, but they also have wonderful resources and apps that are designed to help students based on their own individual needs. For this purpose, I am requesting headphones with booms. Many applications require students to listen to information. If everyone is listening to something different at the same time it will be very distracting, possibly negating all learning. Headphones will allow students to listen to resources at their own individual level. The boom is beneficial when creating projects that require student to record their own voice.
We all learn differently.
These headphones will help students learn what they need when they need it, in an engaging manner. Headphones will even give students the ability to learn a foreign language!
