Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are all EARS and in need of a listening center with books on cd to use during literacy workstations.
I am the lucky teacher of 24 super first grade smarties!
Our school is an inner NYC school. Our classroom is extremely diverse! We have students from all over the world. Approximately 40% of our class is made up of English Language Learners. My students are inquisitive. They are always wondering about new things and are enthusiastic about finding new information.
My Project
A listening center and books on cd will allow my students to build sight vocabulary, provide them with a model of phrasing and fluency, expose them to a variety of story genres, provide access to higher text levels, and foster listening skills. It will benefit my English Language Learners by helping them acquire language.
I believe every classroom should have access to a listening center and great literature.
