Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always excited about learning--some are so excited they can't sit still long enough to do their work!
Many of my students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
They see school as a safe and friendly place where they can express their eagerness to learn. My students all have great minds and absorb new information very quickly. They are encouraging to one another and truly enjoy seeing each other succeed.
My Project
Since they are young children, some of my students are often unable to sit still. Though I do allow reasonable movement and frequent breaks and changes, it is often important for students to be able to listen to a story or contain their movement long enough to do work. For many students, if they are engaging their bodies in balancing, they are then able to contain their movements enough to focus their minds on the tasks at hand. Using balance balls as chairs, wiggle cushions on the carpet, and bands tied around chair legs to engage feet will help my students to succeed in their work.
By having assistance in containing their movements, my students will be able to complete more work.
