My students need a washing machine, dryer, and cleaning items that will be used to advance self-advocacy learning and real world connections. We will be able to decrease paper towel usage by more than half.
My students are a part of a Title 1 school where over 97% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My scholars are Life Skills students with an array of academic challenges, but this fact does not hinder their spirit and desire to learn. They have genuine gifts and they always do their best to overcome specific challenges to achieve academically.
My students' eagerness to learn inspires me each day and demands I continually sharpen my skills and teach at the highest level.
Because experience is an excellent aid to the learning and teaching process and because our desired outcome is to connect every lesson to what will be used in life thus fostering life long learning we are asking for your support in our quest for academic greatness.
The items we are requesting will be used to advance self-advocacy learning and real world connections in our life skills classroom. Our class is invested in reducing. recycling, and reusing. We can make real world connections on skills like sorting, counting, matching, and classifying just to name a few. Through washing and drying we learn textures, styles, trends, color stability and color fading.
We can and will study the effects of water temperature changes and what affects it has on maintaining and/or shrinking certain fabrics.
Our laundry projects will also allow us through folding to see fractions, perimeter, and many other cross curriculum real world connections come alive. Please assist us by donating to this amazing project who knows we may discover and tell you something you did not know about laundry and more benefits to you.
