My Students

My school sits in the middle of a low-income neighborhood in FL. Close to 100% of our students are on free or reduced-price lunch and about twenty percent of students live in one of the four shelters around our school. Our school does an excellent job of helping those students fit in even though the mobility rate is very high.

I believe every child can achieve the impossible.

My students have big dreams and I try every day to help them get closer to achieving them.

My Project

Many students and families have been affected by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. However, those affected by Hurricane Maria have been affected more. When those students displaced by Hurricane Maria enter my classroom I want them to feel welcomed and not as though they are a burden.

But due to the increased enrollment, the ratio of computers to students has increased.

The students that have been displaced shouldn't feel as though they are a burden to us. I'm requesting two Apple iPad tablets which will be added to my classroom tablet set. By having access to two more iPads, the old students and the new students will see that our class routine didn't skip a beat. My students can still have their usual allotted time on the computer to access internet resources and new students won't feel that they are a burden.
