This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Our students strive to succeed and overcome barriers to learning. They are creative, passionate, caring, and dedicated. But they also bring many adverse experiences with them into the school environment. So many students enter my office seeking support to cope with stressors that negatively impact their engagement in school. Every day students come into this space to utilize the calming corner which included books, coloring, fidgets, etc. However, we could really use some upgrades to our space to make it more inviting and representative of our students who are working through truly challenging times. A few middle school students helped identify the items in this project. These items will be invaluable to creating the space these students deserve!
