My Students

Do you remember the good feeling of success as a child? Something you did on your own and the boost it gave your confidence? Big Universe is a great program to help students feel more independent and confident.

I teach in a small rural school in North Carolina.

We have around 200 students total. I will be teaching a class of first and second graders this year. Our school is so small that we have grade combinations sometimes. My children are like most children their age; they like to learn and they enjoy new things. We are blessed with a caring staff who work together to find ways to get the things our students need in spite of the economy and budget cuts.

My Project

Big Universe is an outstanding digital reading program that empowers children to become better readers. It has a wide array of book genre and formats on their levels that encourage independent reading success. Having this program will be very helpful since I have two grades. One group can work with Big Universe Program while I work with the other group. Big Universe also has a very creative writing feature I like and think my students will enjoy.

This project will help my students become more independent, successful readers.

The success they feel in first and second grade will influence their future learning. Getting a good start in the early years is very important.
