My students need a classroom printer in order to share and display content area classroom work, and a BrainPOP subscription for access to academic content delivered to engage and motivate learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students' in my class are comprised of mild to moderate disabled learners who come from diverse backgrounds, including Hmong, Latino, Vietnamese, African American and American Indian. They progress and succeed best with engaging visuals that help them acquire and retain academic content. Our classroom consists of one teacher and one Instructional Paraprofessional, and as a team we work together to meet each child's unique academic and social needs. Our school is located in a high poverty area and students have limited access to technology outside of school.
My Project
In an effort to motivate student learning and academic growth in all content areas, a printer and toner would allow us to print, copy and display our students' work in a vibrant and visual manner in our classroom.
Additionally, our special needs students learn through the use of differentiated groups and having a classroom subscription to BrainPOP to use will strengthen their visual access to science, literacy, writing and math content.
BrainPOP is an interactive resource that will be used in the classroom to introduce new concepts as we work each school day to build and sustain their content area vocabulary and knowledge.
