My students need Nicky's Communicator Folders for homework and parent communication, pencil holders, and pencils to get the school year started off right.

The 24 second grade Superheroes I get to spend each day with inspire me with their infectious energy, their ability to persevere, and their quirky sense of humor. They inspire me daily to be the best I can be for them. While my district has increasingly ramped up efforts to give us what we need to be successful, the fact remains that we are in a high-poverty neighborhood, and more is desperately needed.
The needs of my students vary, but I do not want what they lack to have a negative impact on their education.
The school where I teach is a place I fell in love with seven years ago. My students know my heart is invested in them, and I work hard to motivate them to work hard to be their absolute best not for me but for themselves.
For this project, my goal was to select items that are needed the first day of school to make my future student's introduction to second grade a little easier. I chose homework folders, pencils, and pencil holders for my new class. These are items that I believe will help make the beginning of the year go smoothly.
Many students do not have supplies for the first days of school, and it is my goal to take a little pressure off of families by having a few basics on their desks when they arrive in August.
By providing sturdy homework folders on the first day, I will be able to start and effective communication procedure with families right away.
The pencil holders will help ensure everyone always has at least one pencil. The pack of pencils will be used on the first day to make sure every child who enters my classroom will be able to get right to work, instead of having to dig out pencils (if they have any) to get started on their first day activities.
