Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the School Nurse MA for an inner-city, Title I, public school in Dallas, TX. Our school now consists of 1300 middle school scholars in grades 6-8. Our clinic is very busy and we assist our students for varying degrees of medical reasons, from daily medication administrations, to injuries, to life-threatening situations!
Many of our students and families rely on our expert care for their healthcare needs.
We assist students and families with personal care, nutritional counseling, finding resources and answering all questions related to their health and wellness.
My Project

I work very hard to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for my students and families!
I see my students when they are at their most vulnerable. Being sick is no fun, I hope these items can make them a little more comfortable while in my clinic.
These flexible seating yoga ball chairs, that promote proper posture, core strengthening and balance, will be a perfect choice for our students. They also provide open dialogue for health, wellness and exercise, a great way to learn about your health while also having fun!
Also included in our project is a positive and colorful clinic sign! This sign will hang on our door to welcome our students and families to our clinic while reinforcing our love and care for our students! Another fun item we have requested is an Easter Island tissue holder that produces tissues out of his mouth! Getting our students to blow their noses is a chore. Hopefully providing a fun tissue dispenser will encourage our students to blow their noses more!
