My students need crayon boxes, crayons, pencils, dry erase markers and dice to prepare for kindergarten and be ready to tackle reading, writing, math and science!
Do you remember what your first impression of school was when you went to meet your kindergarten teacher? We want our families and student to feel welcomed and know we are here to support them every step of the way! A tool kit with basic school needs is a great way to show we care!
These 5 year old children come from a diverse economic, cultural and family dynamic.
Each student brings with them their own culture and history to share. This makes us all very fortunate! Due to the economy most students, over 50 percent, are on free and reduced lunch and their families struggle to get food on the table. We do our best to educationally and emotionally support each and every family!
My Project
Students will be prepared and welcomed to their kindergarten year. They will have time to learn the most important skills with their families, meet their new teachers and have a tool box full of tools to take home over the summer to begin building their skills! Skills such as alphabet recognition, number recognition with dice, writing their names with wipe off markers me pencil and begin learning strengthening their fine motor skills using a glue stick.
This project is so important for several reasons.
First it gives students, who may not have the funds, tools they need to practical needed skills for kindergarten. It allows families to meet and greet our staff , learn about skills and go home with the tools and begin using them hat night! The book, crayon box, pencil, wipe off marker and dice will help build a foundation for these in coming kindergarten students.
