I have the privilege of teaching, nurturing, and fostering a love of learning in 22 beautiful Pre-K students! Every day is an adventure!
My students are a wonderful and intelligent bunch, always curious, and eager to learn and explore.
They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and inquirers. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers. They are our future, and I want to give them the greatest start to whatever lies ahead of them - in college, their career, and life!
My Project
The ever famous Mr. Fred Rogers once said, "Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." How true these words are. As I work day in and day out with my class, I get the chance to see just how much play is a necessary part of their development. Not just any play, but the hands-on, uninterrupted, child-led, imagination soaring type of play.
Being able to enrich their play space with new pieces such as Fresh Mart, will provide opportunities for enriched social skills, cooperative play, creative play, rich dialogue, role playing of community helpers, and so much more!
I look forward to seeing what adventures my class can create with this Fresh Mart. I look forward to hearing the conversations at checkout, relating it to their own grocery store trips, watching them take turns, and helping them work through emotions when taking turns is tough. I also look forward to using this new play piece to embed academic concepts as well such as environmental print, counting, beginning sounds, name writing, and more. The possibilities are endless, and I'm so excited for what adventures this can bring to our room!
